Hosts: Kirsty Lountain-Pick and Josh Blackham
Theme: Reading Challenges for EAL Learners (continued)
Guest speakers will include:
Helen Sadig from the University of Leeds who will share a talk she presented at a meeting for volunteer reading mentors on Reading Challenges and Useful Strategies;
Sadie Cordingley from Bowling Park Primary School, Bradford, will show how she plans and uses guided reading with new arrivals in her school.
Other topics will be a case study using Gordon Ward’s ‘Racing to English’, Reciprocal Reading and Reading Exam Language. I will also be sharing some of the highlights of the NALDIC conference in London last November, including videos of some pupil voice in our region. As usual there will be local, regional, national and international updates on EAL matters.
If you would like to contribute some of your research or good practice or would like to announce an event etc, please contact me so that I can include you on the agenda. The event is free and you don’t have to be a NALDIC member to attend but please let me know if you hope to attend and do feel free to invite anyone else who may be interested.
