KTLangspec Courses has been developed and is run by myself, Kamil Trzebiatowski.
I have been in English language education since 1999. Originally from Poland, where I spent my first 6 years (professionally!) teaching English as a Foreign Language, I moved to the UK in 2007 and have worked in the field of EAL (English as an Additional Language) ever since. These days, I live in Kingston-upon-Hull and work as an EAL Coordinator at a mainstream secondary school, and part-time as independent EAL consultant and trainer, travelling the country.
I am very well known amongst teachers from my numerous appearances in the last couple of years at a variety of events, ranging from small TeachMeets to large teacher and academic conferences. I am an executive member of NALDIC (National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum) and an associate trainer with EAL Academy. I write regularly: not only for my own blog (valuediversity-teacher.co.uk), but am a regular columnist for NALDIC’s EAL Journal. Last year, I wrote a series of articles for NATE’s Teaching English on how to provide effective teaching for EAL learners and my chapter on EAL and academic language was published in SAGE’s book for newly qualified teachers NQT: The beginning teacher’s guide to outstanding practice .
I have also organised a number of events. In my school in Kingston-upon-Hull, I organised the city’s first ever EAL TeachMeet (April 2015), which was followed in July the following year by Hull’s first ever EAL Conference. These days, I head the HEAL (Hull EAL) group, a local EAL-interest group of teachers, heads of schools and teaching assistants. The group has grown from just seven or eight last year to now well over 30 professionals across the city. I have also organised two successful free sharing-practice #PedagooHull events at the University of Hull.
I have thorough academic training in both teaching itself and English language teaching and linguistics from the University of Gdansk (Poland), Lancaster University and University of the West of Scotland.
I look forward to meeting you on the course!
